Summer Orientation sessions for Fall 2024 admitted students will be held throughout the summer starting June 10th through July 26th.
Parents and families can join their students at Orientation and participate in their own program designed for student supporters. Explore the tabs below to learn about what's offered at Orientation for student supporters and how to sign up.
Student supporters are invited to attend a one-day program to learn about how to be a partner in their students' success and what opportunities are available to them as supporters of an SF State student.
Presentation topics include: Top 5 Things to Know Supporting a New College Student; Paying for College, Understanding College Student Development; and Understanding College Level Academics.)
University programs and departments host educational sessions at each Orientation session for students and guests to learn more about their services and ask questions. Example presenters include: Financial Aid, Study Abroad, Student Health, and University Housing.
New Student & Family Programs will begin its monthly webinar series for student supporters a few weeks after the start of the Fall semester. The webinars will be hosted throughout the academic year and cover not only support and services offered by the university, but also hot topics about college student life, such as relationships, independence, identity development, and more.
Ready to sign up for Orientation as a guest? When your student logs into their Orientation Profile, have them follow these steps:
1. Click "Add Your Supporters Or Parents" and click Next.
2. Click the yellow "Add a Supporter/Family Member" button and fill out the requested contact information.
3. Click Save & Continue. You'll then see a pending payment for the guest fee at the top of the page, which you can complete to confirm the addition of a guest to your reservation.
** You will attend Orientation on the same day as your student.
